When you submit an abstract, you will be asked to approve the following statement: “I have read, understand, and agree to the rules and guidelines.” Your abstract will not be programmed if this box has not been checked.
You must submit each abstract online. Instructions for submitting abstracts will be available on October 4, 2018
By submitting an abstract, you agree to attend the meeting and present your work, regardless of the format assigned (oral or poster). If a presenting author must cancel for some reason, it is their responsibility to designate one of the co-authors as their replacement. Abstracts cannot be withdrawn after the revision deadline of November 16, 2018.
The abstract should include a statement of purpose, methods used, and a summary of results in sufficient detail to support the conclusion. Avoid statements such as "results will be described."
Abstracts will appear online exactly as submitted, i.e., no corrections, additions, revisions, or deletions can be made by GSA staff. The submitting author may make revisions and corrections via the revision program. All revisions must be made no later than the revision deadline of November 16, 2018. Proof your text carefully before submitting.
Those authors whose abstracts are selected as poster presentations MUST display their poster for the length of the conference in the poster area and MUST present that poster during scheduled times.
All accepted abstracts will be scheduled either as an oral or poster presentation at the discretion of the Conference Organizers and Session Chairs. Because oral presentation requests far exceed oral presentation slots, authors should be prepared to present a poster if their abstract is not selected for an oral presentation.
You must submit each abstract online and pay the non-refundable, per abstract fee of $30 Members/$60 Non-Members. To receive the member fee, the submitting author must be a 2019 GSA member. The same person may submit multiple abstracts, but a separate fee is payable for each submission. If the submitter is also the presenting author and submits more than one abstract, a secondary author must be attending and prepared to present in the case of conflicts.
Authors who do not present as scheduled may be excluded from future submissions.
The Organizers reserve the right to decline any submitted abstracts that lack scientific content or merit, or merely announce the availability of a resource or service.
By attending the Conference, you grant GSA the right to use your photograph, name, and likeness for use in GSA educational, news, or promotional materials. Please note that the use of cameras and other recording devices in oral and poster sessions is strictly prohibited without express permission from the presenter or an authorized GSA representative.
Publication of Abstracts
Abstracts selected for presentation will be available online by March 1, 2019, which will be considered the official publication date. The full abstract text will only be available online and as a printable PDF.
Social Media/Photo/Video Policy
Live tweeting of presentations is allowed unless the speaker explicitly opts out by stating so at the start of his or her talk. Taking or sharing photos or videos of posters is permitted only with the presenter’s consent during the assigned poster session. Taking photos of posters while the presenter is not present is strictly prohibited. By attending a GSA conference, you grant GSA the right to use your photograph, name, and likeness for use in GSA educational, news, or promotional materials.
The Genetics Society of America - Abstract Licensing Agreement
In consideration of the Genetic Society of America's (GSA's) acceptance of the abstract, the presenting author grants GSA a nonexclusive, perpetual, worldwide license to copy, reproduce and publish the abstract in the online Abstract PDF and/or other compilations or collective works to be assembled and owned by GSA (together, "Collective Works") in any form or medium now existing or hereafter created throughout the world.
The presenting author understands and agrees that GSA shall own all rights, including copyright, in and to the Collective Works including the right to:
distribute, reproduce, license, display, perform, lend, lease, or transfer rights to the Collective Works to third parties,
prepare derivative works of the Collective Works, and
register the Collective Works in GSA’s own name with the US Copyright Office.
